I said this before in an earlier thread, but I don't see any reason why Lou and Mick couldn't do something without the Foreigner name attached to it.Page and Plant did it,and to a lesser degree,John Wetton and Geoff Downes did it with Icon.Just a thought.

There was a time when I waited anxiously for anything that came out involving Jorn. Why?Because he was coming out with quality product.Masterplan,Ark,and Millenium come to mind. After spending hard earned money on his last few solo releases, only to get the same rehashed riffs, and the obligatory cover tune,I've decided,no more. There's too much quality stuff out there,to keep throwing money down on s

I just finished listening to the whole thing on Spotify, and I think I will pass. The songs, imo, aren't the weakest part of this.Although there are a few that sound like second rate Lizzy throwaways.Neither is the often maligned production of Kevin Shirley. To me the weakest part of this cd,is Ricky Warwick's vocals. He tries way too hard to sound like Phil in places, yet he doesn't bring that calm, coo

wasn't this project at one time going to be released under the Khymera name?I thought I read that here at one point.

Funny, the other day I started a thread about how Portnoy was a real busy guy,and then this happens. He definitely had a lot on his plate,so this really comes as no surprise.I think Winery Dogs is his main focus now.

Actually,I probably should have said that the basic tracks were recorded at those shows.Aside, from lifting the crowd noise, there was plenty of overdubbing involved.Kind of like most officially released "live" albums...but in reverse!

Actually, the entire album was recorded live at that SF show and another in San Jose, and the audience noise was lifted during the mixing of it.The only other band that I know of,that has done that(there may be others that I am unaware of)was King Crimson with Lark's Tongues in Aspic.

Tate has NOBODY to blame but HIMSELF,for the avalanche of shit that fans have thrown his way.His words and his actions speak for themselves!

The worst move he could have made, imo, was rush releasing FU,as basically an unfinished product, and then offering fans a remix immediately after release.I think that alone is going to come back and bite him in the ass! That coupled with his personal shenanigans over the past several months...I can't imagine any judge awarding him use of the QR name.

imo, most really good prog rock albums aren't immediate. There are exceptions, but some of my all time faves didn't click with me right away. They took a few listens to really absorb and appreciate them. And yes,I too cannot wait for the Winery Dogs!

Posted on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 02:13:47 EST Drummer Mike Portnoy (ADRENALINE MOB, ex-DREAM THEATER) has issued the following update on the forthcoming TRANSATLANTIC album, also featuring Neal Morse (vocals/ex-SPOCK'S BEARD), Roine Stolte (guitars/THE FLOWER KINGS) and Pete Trewavas (bass/MARILLION). "The TA4 Sessions went splendidly fantastic! (I think I've been hanging around Pete

Saw this yesterday, and was going to post it here, but didn't have time. The guy has totally lost the plot.First,he alienated his bandmates...and now the fans!!!Somebody offered me free tix to see him a while back, and I thought the price was to high!!!

I was somewhat skeptical when they decided to continue after Steve passed, but I have to say,Nic Maeder nailed it big time on Firebirth!Bring on the sequel. In the past 5 years or so,they have become a band that I listen to frequently, and one of the many I had never heard of,until I started frequenting this site!

I've heard the new Tateryche and it really did nothing for me.As has already been said,I don't base my music purchases on the personalities(or lack of)involved. If I did,I'd have a vastly smaller music collection.

Terry, this was actually recorded last year at the same time that Neal recorded his last solo cd.As for the sound,Neal said at the time that it had that classic power trio vibe to it.Given that this is basically Soul Sirkus minus JSS,I would expect to hear nuances of that as well.

I've seen Ratt live 3 times over the years...and believe me,you don't want a live album by them. They ranged from marginal to godawful embarrasing!

Honestly,I'd rather have too many live albums by a band, then greatest hits packages ala Foreigner and Survivor, just to name a couple.Either way though,it is still overkill.

After "Are You Ready to Rock" came out(a cd I still play regularly today),I went back and checked out their first two. While not bad, there was nothing,at least to my ears, that stood out as anything special.

This will be about the 30th time I've seen Y&T over the years, and I've yet to see an even remotely mediocre performance by them.Without a doubt, the most consistent live band I've ever seen. How these guys never made it big,is truly mindboggling!

I was over at setlist.fm looking at what he's done at recent shows, and yeah,it's a little of everything. This is Y&T's yearly homecoming show at the Fillmore in SF,and they in the past, usually have gotten a fairly well known opener, and have given them anywhere from 50 minutes to an hour fifteen.Hopefully,he'll get the longer end of the spectrum.Either way, looking forward to it.
