Over here in North Wales it has been piss poor for rock shows for years other than the big obvious ones and internet radio. I've been trying to rectify that for the past couple of years, hosting a show called "The Rock Surgery" on a little station based on Anglesey called Mon FM. It goes out every Friday night at 8PM ovetr the net and on 102.5FM, if you are in the area. We play abs

Great album. Reminds me of their Russian Roulette era. Very melodic and great to see Wolf Hoffmann throwing in a classical piece in his solo once again, this time it's the fabulous Morning Mood by Grieg. Top album, top band...UK tour now please? Cheers, Chris

Personally, I think he is better live than on record. I find his albums pretty hit and miss but live he is superb. Chris

...and how many times does he have to announce his MOJO title on his show on Planet Rock? Have to admit, I do like a lot of what he plays though. Chris

Even if Tiago Silva and Neymar were on the pitch, the Germans would still have hammered them. I'm fed up of hearing "what if..." etc. Let's not forget that the Germans were missing several likely first team starters, for the whole tournament, themselves. yet, they got on with it and played like a decent football team should play...wunderbar. Worst Brazil team i've ever seen. Ch

Seemed to go down really well and impressive to see and hear so many singing along. Sadly, I thought the band was shabby to say the least. Hetfield and Trujillo were both great but Ullrich was his usual rubbish self, Jesus, a stopped clock could keep time better than this fella!! he kept speeding up, slowing down and coming in at the wrong times...horrible. Hammett was also pretty poor, a lot

If for no other reason alone, i'm glad he scored twice just to see that idiot Adrian Chiles' sulky face at the end. He was equally annoying/hysterical after the German game. Who the hell gave this fool a job in football? Plus, I hate it when he addresses the viewers as "us" and "we" when England play. I imagine quite a lot of us aren't English...get it right you crackpot!!

FM might headline one day I guess but can't see any of the others filling that position. It runs alongside Hammerfest next year and I can see the AOR stuff getting moved to the 2nd stage as I don't think this lineup has the names to hog te main stage area. Hammerfest does tend to get fairly biggish bands on the bill. Either/or, i'm there as it's 30 minutes down the road and I actually prefer

I'm with you Dan, struggling with this one and i'm a huge fan. Sounds like Petty doing Collective Soul and what's up with that production? Saying that, only heard it a couple of times so it will probably grow on me and I imagine the album won't be a turkey. Chris

Morning Folks, Last night I played Janet Jakcson's "Black Cat" on my "The Rock Surgery" show and it went down a treat. Granted the version I played had both Nuno Bettencourt and Vernon Reid on guitars but it's still a superb 4 minutes+ of driving rock music. So, I was wondering, which other artists/bands of a non-rock perusasion have recorded rock tunes and I don't mean c

I used to go to London and back on the same day/night for "special" gis and then go to work after getting home at 4-5AM and that was fater a 10 hour round trip!! Can't do it anymore and even a Manchester gig (3 hour round trip) in the week is hard going these days. Yup, must be getting old? But, if it is a band I really want to see, i'm with you there, will make more of an effort.

I can see that Buckley gig getting cancelled too as tickets aren't selling at all. Unless of course, they will use it as a Download warm-up show seeing it is the night before their festival appearance? Chris

By far the best room out of the 4 Academy venues in Manchester. Sound is always excellent there and viewing is also very good there. Seen many a great gig at Academy 3 over the years. Chris

Terry, KWS "Going Home" is out tomorrow in the uK o I imagine it'll be Tuesday in the US. It's a studio album but all covers and features many a guest musician...Warren Haynes & Joe Walsho to mention two. Check out The Rock Surgery on Facebook for a full stream of the album. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Rock-Surgery/375596655794822 Chris

Mule are always good live, Warren's playing is exceptional live. Moe. might not be the best on record but are also very good live. The Hold Steady is a band I really should check out live and now with Steve Selvidge on board on guitar, it's a must...great player. Chris

I know for a fact that RDC aren't cheap, so it's not really the venues' fault but the band is pricing itself out of good turnouts at the specific venues. Shame you're not in North Wales as I gave away a pair of tickets to the Buckley Tivoli gig on my show last Friday. Chris

Seems most Ritz gigs have an early start time now. Blackberry Smoke is 6.30 and Sheryl Crow is 6PM, both having a curfew of 10PM. Chris
