I visited his Amsterdam show on the 9th and was pretty dissapointed to be honest. I saw his Amsterdam and Cologne (of was it Mannheim)shows in 1998 and espec the A'dam show back then was one of the best concerts i ever attended. So i'm sure the man can carry a band and show by his own. Indeed if he chooses to play the poorest and awfull song of the new album (imo Sugar daddy) or Don't look back

Thank you for your input, especially Cressy. The discussion did not completely answer my question but its interesting to read. I think when it comes to a discussion about religion it offends non-believers more than when you talk about something else. I mean when i talk about Bruce Springsteen and that you really should check out his new album or visit a concert nobody gets offended. But when

Why is it that when i read reviews by people who (probably)consider themselves not to be a Christian, about records with Christian lyrics....people often state that the "christian vibe" doesn't bother them? Like its something that is supposed or at least likely to bother you in the first place. I almost never hear people complain about the lyrics in melodic rock, with all the "i

I agree with the others..........evertything the man does is brilliant.( I think Snow is considered to be the best Spocks Beard album from the Neal Morse era. When it comes to his solo-stuff. I think Testimony II or Questionmark are the best starters (and better than Lifelen) Sola Sriptura is very very prog en very heavy (at least for his standard). I needed a few spins to really get into th

Hey Robby That new guy...aint so new anymore: that is Bobby Bandiera. He first played with JBJ on his solo-gigs for Destination Anywhere. For This left feels right he joined the BJ line up and since then he did all the tours as 2nd guitairist a far as i know. RonK

Troy Relax and have a beer! What they mean with "faceless" is probably figarutive/metaphorical. Performing on stage very well in a musical sense of speaking is something different than "a very good stage perfomance". I do not have a problem with Hugh but also you can see some difference between a man as Gary Tallent or Michael Anthony when it comes to stage performance. -

Hugh only played on Runaway on the debut and did not play on Fahrenheit (as far as i know). The song appeared on a album with all kind of local artists (WAPP). In that period there were a lot of songs demoed (later released as Powerstation Years) but i'm not sure of those "Runaway musicians" (with also Roy Bittan and Tim Pierce) played on all demo's or only on Runaway. (does someone kno

I was a huge fan of the band for a pretty long time and all the fan's i spoke to did like Hugh/Huey al lot. Allthough it wasn't such a stage-personality as Alec. So as far from the promo-shots or whatever i wouldn't call him faceless. Then again....Daryll Jones isn't in the Stones promo-pictures either and still everyone knows that the guy plays in The Stones. Tico Torres has a huge charisma als

I think all of Arena's vocalists are/were pretty poor, but what a great band it is !! With Pendragon it's even worse. I only know: "Not of this world", good songs but terrible voice which makes me reluctant to check out more of their stuff. I'm not too fond of Chris Ousey either....but i love The Distance debut. Pink Floyd could have been better with a great singer also... Rgds Ron

(it made me focus more on good vocalists from then on) RonK

I recentely bought both Power House and Highlands last year i bought Souvenirs (a sort of best of from three of their albums). Tracks like You can see the world, The Cry, Independence Day, Over Me.....really irresistable melodic rock. If i compare them with bands like Petra, Stryper, Allies, Idle Cure, Jerusalem, i think White Heart were the best in the genre. The absolute King in Christian ro

Well the big difference with Foreigner is that BJ is at least releases a new record from time to time. And unlike Styx/Journey/Reo etc they certainly released a lot of audience favorites áfter their biggest succes (SSW/NJ). Even a new song like Older is doing pretty good live. Novocain en Dirty Little Secret are great songs indeed. So though i lost my interest in them almost completely and i

In defence of mr Mennen himself, the two times i saw Mennen live (the 2nd time they did an accoustic thing when they supported Dare on their Bebob show) i thought i witnessed one of the best vocalists of The Netherlands. If someone doesn't like his voice...that's his opnion but the guy is an amazing powerfull singer !

Anyone else at the Lokerse Feesten yesterday ? I had my doubts about Hugo on forehand, but the guy is great ! Terry Brock sounded even better (Forever again, Love Lies Dying and "his new single" Face in the crowd) They had another special guest, mrs Dina D (?), besides backing vocals she sang lead on Heart's Alone and Barracuda. Maybe the biggest surprise of the set ! All the the di

I saw him at a festival in 2006 and though i aint a big fan of his voice i must say he sounded amazing ! Still in very good shape. I would check it out if i were you. Didn't know all the songs, some solo stuff, some Baby's and a few Bad English songs in the setlist. Rgds Ronald

They had a commercial on more or less prime time here (= Netherlands) on national tv. You dont see that very often here, so i think they are spending serious money on it.
