Mik, I know thanks, we are getting the info, but too many times things have changed, from getting the contracts 3 months ago to the week of the gig. Just talking from experience at club level here. Glenn & anybody else that is attending next Monday, times are - 7.00pm - Doors. 7.30pm - The Picture Books. 8.30pm - Bad Touch. 9.30pm - The Answer. Hope that helps. Keep rocking

Mik, please don't read too much into that statement. I just cannot definitively confirm the running times right now, would hate to get it wrong, for whatever reason and frustrate a customer. The Answer gig is through a 3rd party agent (basically he's hiring the club from us), so he's got the contracts and I haven't found out the running times yet. I will do that today. thanks. scot

Glenn, No idea on start times for the Answer yet & defo no idea on FM either. Until the bands arrive & tell us set lengths, nothing can be confirmed. As for the weekday start times, we have tried earlier times before and it failed. The majority of attendees at the club know the first band will be on at 8pm (usually for a 3 band bill).Plus don't forget that band logistics can play a pa

Hi Dave, Thanks for your support and attendance. Would love to meet and say hello on weds, just ask a staff member to point me out and say hello. Just through these messages and some emails I've received, it would seem out of the 48 in attendance, 18 so far have travelled in....that's a worry that 3 great original bands can't muster up more than 30 locals! Shameful really, but a reality.

Hi RAB, Thanks for your kind words and understanding. We completely understand that sometimes other factors in folks life make travelling hard. To be honest we can't knock anybody that travels and supports a live venue. There are many folks locally that could have attended last night but chose not to. Knowing some of these folks from owning my shop is something that frustrates me. But hey,

Hey Fader, Thanks for the response and commitment to the scene, I know exactly where you are coming from with the younger generation not coming through and I too have a similar outlook to youself. My son was there last night too, he was playing tunes inbetween the bands off his laptop and helps out the soundman with stage set ups etc....(unpaid and glad to help I might add) and he's 21 in May.

We too prefer originals, but as you say, revenue is needed and the business then has to cater for 'joe public' tributes. When we have taken a chance on some more established artists, that too has worked, we had Toyah on Friday, completely sold out at £18 a ticket, Big Country normally sells out and Bad Manners too just to name 3. The problem then arises that if we decline too many from an age

The situation with regards to turnouts is one that is becoming more and more of a concern with original acts. It's a vicious circle that seems to be getting worse. Most on here already know that I'm closely involved with the running of the Yardbirds and as the main ticket seller I'm very committed to getting folks through the door. The turnout last night can only be described as disappointi

HMV are not considered to be an independent, this is reflected in that they cannot take part in Record Store Day which is only for Independent Record Stores. As an Independent Record Store owner wanting to stock new product, there are certain labels/distributors that make it very hard to be competitive. I don't want to be the cheapest, but there is something fundamentally wrong with a syste

Of course if the record companies made in financially possible for independent record shops to stock it, customers would be able to visit a physical store and buy it! For an industry that has been in decline and turmoil for years I cannot believe how independent shops are treated versus Amazon. Rant over...sorry Scott. Rock music fan & record store owner.

For me the heavier Inside Love works well, where as Strangers in the Night has that big last chorus missing from the original, a minor gripe but cannot stop playing this disc! Scott.

I spoke to the band about the situation that Homewreckers and Halfpenny Dancer are, at times, doing silly money online. The band did say that they have plans to re-release these 2 titles. I was led to believe that the band have realised that there was not as many pressed as they thought or was told. They did mention that they were also planning on re-releasing This is Rock N Roll, but I told t

I pre-ordered the Jap version from CD Japan in Feb, £18 including delivery. Somebody above mentioned about being hit with customs charges. Something has changed with the customs office this year, I know loads of folks that have never had a problem in the past that are suddenly being hit with charges, me included not just the occasional hit, but lately everything outside the EU is being charged.

It's not about Mike being put off playing in front of 60 people. No disrespect to Mike but he gets paid by the Diamond if there is 6, 60 or 160 people. If he is like most of the artists that play clubs the size of the Diamond, Railway or Yardbirds, they turn up and play to whoever has paid, if there is not enough people in to cover the cost of the artist, then the club loses out, not the artist a

They were booked for 4/5 other dates including Grimsby, but I guess the tour promoter got cold feet and has just gone for the one date. Pity, I was really looking forward to seeing them. I personally thought the date we had booked would have worked financially for the band at a tenner a ticket but I guess the costs and logistics of getting around this country has once again proved to be a ste
