Ed Motta - AOR

I notice that adolfo had the album AOR by Ed Motta on his best of 2013. We're talking Steely Dan 1977 AOR rather than Journey 1983, so I don't know whether the record has been already noticed and and passed on by many people here as too Westcoast. Nevertheless, a couple of songs really caught my attention: the beautiful opening ballad Flores da Vida Real is one of my songs of 2013; it starts very loungey and jazzy, but as the song develops I feel the melody morphs into a distant cousin of Journey's wonderful Signs of Life

and the last track Mais do Que Eu Sei is more modern, with IMO a very strong hook and at times a surprisingly solid rock edge:

The album was released in both Portuguese and English versions - I much prefer the Portuguese, even though I don't understand a thing!
