I know it is hard to get new recruits to "the faith" as it were. Last year, I tried to drum up some interest by periodically posting YouTube videos of various artists that were going to be there for MRF3 on my Facebook page but at least nobody I knew seemed much interested. I suppose many in the U.S. still define the type of music that we call "melodic rock" as either "hair metal", "classic rock", or "pop rock" - and are then only interested in the big names playing their 80's hits. I just don't get that mentality. Yeah, I love Don't Stop Believin', Living on a Prayer, Pour Some Sugar on Me, etc. but I would not much enjoy listening to the same old stuff over and over. I think it is part of what keeps me young - I still have that hunger for new stuff, either from old favorites or newer acts that pop up and play in the styles I respond to. I keep up with some of the popular new acts too, but this style of music is nearest and dearest to my tastes.
