Went to the Extreme show in Glasgow on Saturday. Managed to meet the band before the gig about 3pm. Spoke to Kevin Figueiredo first who was really nice and signed the lates Extreme album. Spoke about Mike Mangini to. Gary Cherone and Pat Badger came together in a cab and Gary was one of the nicest guys I ever met! He signed my Extreme cd and my Van Halen III cd for me and told him I seen VH on the III tour in Toronto in 1998. He was a really cool guy! Only thing was I forgot to ask him if he did actually record a full 2nd album with VH, damn! I was too excited, I forgot, my bad! Oops. I missed Pat Badger as I was talking to Gary, damn! Next up was Nuno who arrived in a Glasgow cab with his pretty blonde GF. Nuno also signed the latest Extreme cd for me and posed for a pic. Nice guy but his GF was nicer :-) Very happy with 3 signatures photos with 3 of the band, just a shame I missed Pat. On to the concert. Terrible sound from the get go. Gary's voice was buried in the mix. Who the hell hires these guys? Drums were FAR to loud as was Nuno's guitar. Fire the sound guy or at least shoot him. Quite a few technical hitches during the actual show but the band did play great and it was equally great to hear PORNOGRAFFITTI in full followed by a 6 song set afterwards which included 4 songs from III sides to every story and the classic Play With Me from Bill and Ted. They also played a snippet of Queen's tie your mother down and Crazy little thing. the band got a great reception and played like demons. Cherone's voice is still great and Nuno is still one of the best guitarist's around. Just a shame about the dodgy sound bad mix. I only seen one guy in the audience who almost got an ass kicking for being a dick. I guess that comes with the territory on a sat night rock concert. So it was a good night, not as good as the last time in 2008 but still good and meeting the band beforehand was a lovely bonus. Especially meeting Gary, being as VH are my fav band and I really loved him in VH. Peace.
