As a family, we enjoy watching cooking shows on TV. They're quite entertaining these days, and my daughter loves them.

So, last year, some of the big name chefs came to our local Wegman's -- Giada DeLaurentis and Michael Simon. A few months later, Rachel Ray was at another Wegman's, located about 40 minutes away (Wegman's is a large supermarket chain for those not familiar).

We thought it would be fun to have our daughter meet some of these celebrity chefs, since she knows them from TV.

Out of the 3, I expected Giada to be the most diva, and I couldn't have been more wrong. She was gracious and friendly, and spent time for photos with her fans. She sat behind a table, for far longer than the anticipated time. One stipulation was that you had to buy her new book AT Wegman's (though it was 20% off), but that she'd also sign other, previously-purchased books that you already owned.

Michael Simon -- didn't SIT behind a table, but rather STOOD, and greeted everyone. To me, this rushed the entire meet and greet along, and he seemed fake to me, not really interested in what people had to say. By standing, it just seemed to push the entire interaction along more quickly. Again, you had to buy his new book there, but he'd also sign other items you already owned.

As for Rachel Ray -- well, we passed on her. I picked up the tickets for her signing at the store (free, with a Wegman's store card), but with the tickets came a page worth of stipulations. NO outside books. NO photos. NO cameras. No nothing. No thank you. I could care less about a book being signed, I really wanted my daughter to be in a photo with her. Since that wasn't possible, we passed on the entire signing.

I have heard from others about her diva personality, and all of the specifications regarding her signing seem to back that up.

So, it's the artists or authors who agree to this. Sometimes, they forget where they came from.
