Yeah just like dcj most of us have a good reason for appreciating technology of today such as avoiding the less quality releases by streaming sampling and of course downloading. But don't believe our personal opinions regarding the technology is the thing, but so far as the question goes, yes I reckon if there was no downloading, sales would be FAR better.

But I also believe there would still be a significant drop. Computer games and whatnot have taken over a huge part of peoples (and in particular the kids) 'home entertainment' choices. Ask most kids and for that matter perhaps the adults, which they would sooner not have and I'm confident most would not want to part with their gaming consoles. I know for many kids spending an evening at home in front of a game console is their preferred thing, sooner that than they are sitting back with some music.

Sad to a select few here perhaps but it is what it is. I reckon sales would still be well down on what they were up until the onslaught of say the 90's even without digital downloads. BUT, certainly not down the crapper the likes of the current market :(
