what if..

I was curious as to what others think. We all know music sales are way down for say 7-8 years ago across all genres, not just rock. This includes cd and download sales. I think worldwide cd sales still out sell downloads but not much.

but what if there was NO downloading. What if say the technology was not there yet. so if you wanted music you had to buy the cd, record, etc. the question is would sales be a good bit better than they are today?

now I feel overall the quality of music and talent being released across all genres has gone down alot since the advent of american idol and stuff likethat. but with thatsaid, I think music sales would be a huge percentage better across the board is there was NO downloading at all. even though many of you downloand legally , its just way too easy to download illegaly. I work with alot of younger people say under 25 and for one they are not into the artists that much. they like songs here and there, but most do not even remember when they last PAID fora song or album...

like itor not, metallica figthing napster was right...
