Loved Derringer back in the day but he totally lost me when he went "Blues"

If you want to experience him in the full "Hard Rock" mode check out "Derringer Live" from '77. It's got some the best cuts from his studio albums totaly supercharged. His studio efforts always sounded so twee but the versions here will knock you on your ass...
That being said, I do still really like the studio stuff it's just he was really in his element Live.

The "Derringer" album has lots of great songs and of course "All American Boy" his first solo album is really good too just really polite performance wise.

In '78 he got Mike Chapman to produce "If I Weren't So Romantic, I'd Shoot You" He also got Myron Grombacher in on Drums and later for the tour Neil Geraldo (they were an awesome live unit) on second guitar. The album has four killers, the kinda funky "Midnight Road" being my personal favorite also "Easy Action" "Atitude" and "Tonight" The rest isn't quite up to that standard IMHO but still good stuff.

In '79 he released "Guitars And Women" got Todd Rundgren to co-produce and turned pop. It's a good album, but very poppy with only three real rockers on board. The producion has a very powerful bottom so when he does rock it's with authority.

In the 80's you could tell he was confused and didn't know what direction to go in, possibly because of lack of any commercial success during that time but when you saw him live he always delivered..

Sweet Evil is a good one, Rock Candy released it I believe a little while back.
