I AGREE SO MUCH I'VE APPLIED CAPS, EMBOLDENED AND UNDERLINED IT!!!

Kaneudeck - If you like those shows then I'll recommend some more, as well as endorsing the above.

Game Of Thrones - Very close to being up there with those two, if you like fantasy drama with great characters, lots of machiavellian twists and turns, and an ability to constantly subvert cliches and expectations in a way that will make heads roll ;-))

House Of Cards is brilliant, as expected with David Fincher running it and Kevin Spacey starring. Robin Wright plays his wife and their Macbeth / Lady Macbeth dynamic is fascinating. Don't let the fact it's set in Washington and is politically based put you off. It's deliciously nasty and probably my favourite new show of the last year.

Sons Of Anarchy is basically The Sopranos with bikers, but done really well with great performances from some great actors. Likewise Damages, which is The Sopranos in a courtroom with Glenn Close absolutely superb as a ruthless female Tony Soprano.

Actually, one I'm really starting to like big time is The Blacklist. The pilot was really good and now we're about 9 episodes in it's really taking off. It's another of those high concept ideas that requires you to just go with some insane things, but James Spader is on outstanding form as the ambiguous antagonist. The only slight worry is whether it's posing questions it can't ask, like Lost. But the more I watch it the more I believe the show runners know what they're doing. If you like The Shield, 24 and Dexter you will enjoy this one for sure.
