Episode 10 is showing here tonight. While I agree that it's picked up from some of the earlier episodes, the fact that all logic has been thrown out of the window is getting increasingly hard to swallow. Thus, I'm starting to spit :-))

True, it's always been about heightened reality, but shows have to obey their own internal logic, and Homeland has completely lost that for me. I'm good at suspending my disbelief, but this show is seriously testing those limits.

And I haven't shouted at the TV like I did at the end of last weeks otherwise very good episode since the last few episode of Dexter's awful final season. It was when Carrie took a certain someone to see their daughter. She's always been erratic, but was dedicated and excellent at her job with an OCD level of determination, and that was such a fucking stupid thing to do based on reasons that would involve spoilers that it just highlights how annoying her character has become, and how all that made her great in the first series has gone. As I said before, very poor writing has let her character down big time this season. Apparently many viewers were even cheering when Quinn did what he did to her prior to that - which says it all!!

Yet I still watch! I love Saul and when Carrie and Brody are together that's what makes the show. I think I've said before that I kind of feel sorry for show runners in a way, because if they stick too closely to the original premise over and over again they get criticised for repetition, and if they evolve and move away from the initial idea people lose what they fell in love with about the show in the first place. It's a hard line to walk.

For me, Homeland blew up it's guiding idea at the end of season 2, and I'm not sure without the tension that was built around that dynamic whether it has a future.
