Strange thing for me is that I LIKE the fact that he hasn't changed since the 70's. In a lot of ways, my musical tastes haven't changed much in 40 years either, so the closer he sticks to the original formula and "song structures" the better - that's what I like about the sound. I don't believe he can "do no wrong" ... heck, everyone makes mistakes. But when he tried a heavier sound or had Dahme sing, he got criticized, but when he tries to capture the old sound, he gets criticized for that too. Sounds like most of our lives ... we can't please everyone, but as the song goes, "you've got to please yourself" ... if people like it, great, if not, don't buy it. It's that simple.
