I hadn't heard of any of these books prior to this thread, but after checking them out on Amazon the premises seem quite interesting. Reviver actually sounds like the TV series Pushing Daisies, albeit given a nightmarish makeover with a True Blood - what if it happened - dynamic.

I've been reading a book called American Gods, and while it's pretty enjoyable it really isn't making me want to pick it up again and again and, as such, it's taking me ages to get through. Very weird book too.

My favourites of recent times have been Joe Abercrombie's The First Law Trilogy. Brutal, depraved, massively enjoyable fantasy with brilliantly complex characters and a ripe old degree of black humour to boot. The crippled torturer Glotka is my all time favourite literary character ever!
