Yeah, it's probably the same thing people said when automobiles replaced carriages...

Besides, how many bands have actually made money from all those fat LP/CD sales back in the day? A few lucky ones. The rest got ripped off by the very system all these old farts are trying to save now. Instead of embracing the web and its new possibilities, the industry is still fighting it. It's a hopeless fight. You can't turn back time. Music has to compete with FB, Twitter, Instagram and all that other stuff. That's just the sad truth. The positive side: Musicians have complete ownership of what they record – if they choose to do so. Labels have become obsolete. Musicians need to be become entrepreneurs. They need to find a way to market and sell their records in a clever way. The days of musicians being the cool cats, just sitting on their asses and waiting for others to sell their stuff are over.
