MELODIC ROCK DEBATE- Andrew's parameters!

Sometimes I think the "thought police" found in Orwell's 1984 are lurking on this board. Already SFK Kurt has indicated that the debate should stop and move on to other things but isn't that a form of censorship? Frankly, I don't care what's discussed on this board - I respect all the contributors but as Steve from Denmark mentioned there must be a core focus of attention on what we broadly consider "melodic rock". Andrew(the webmaster) indicated this below - and let's get things into perspective.
Why do I patronise and love this site? Because it's the only place where I can get a dispassionate view of the new Yngwie Malmsteen or Heartland album in the same space as well as a classic band like Kansas! And although all new opinion is appreciated, if we digress too much on "peripheral" artists like Pink etc. we miss the absolute gems.
I for one am amazed that their has been no postings on the new "Newman" album. It got a spellbinding review in the new "classic rock"(which isn't always fair to AOR) but who's plugging it. Ditto for the new "Alfonzetti" album - meanwhile the Corrs(who by the way whilst I quite like are all over the media) are mentioned a few times are a week. And as for Pink - is she ever off the tv screen?
And Don, before waxing lyrical about hamburgers and other culinary delights(you sure know how to elongate a sentence into a major thesis by the way) read the postings! You go on about the length of your hair and your attire for nigh on three paragraphs and then you exclaim your not interested in trends etc. To me it's all irrelevant. It's the MUSIC that counts. It's just like a girlfriend of mine at a party who said that she doesn't like Bon Jovi because they cut their hair - ridiculous argument and I told her so along with another 10 or so party goers.
All debate on this board is healthy and I am extremely satisfied with Andrew's proclamation on his future intentions. I think the "brief review" section is great for those artists that are slightly deviant from the more how shall I put it "traditional" artists that are covered more extensively.
And again sarcasm should be better placed as one poster noted that is there no place on this board for Hanson according to the "traditionallists"! Well, do you research - in my postings I've noted a couple of times that I like the new Hanson album and have noted "If Only" as a great song!
And by the way I'm not here to pick fights with anybody(what's the purpose) I consider myself broadly amongst friends but nor will i refrain from commenting when i feel like it.
And please let's not get into "cabal of supporter" approaches. It's painfully obvious that a few posters here(not mentioning names) stick up for their "friends" when it comes to debates. I actually find it rather humorous - I certainly am not hear to receive affirmation from anyone else just merely expressing opinions.
As I say I've got no axe to grind to anyone but I'll keep nicely pushing for my "favourite" style of music whilst keeping openminded and at the moment I'm elated with Andrew's approach to the site!
much looking forward to your NEWMAN and ALFONZETTI reviews. Any chance of interviews with the guys! Cheers.KAOS FAN...
