...giving "Nuthouse" another listen and thought I'd make the following comments:
-I think that if you buy it, you're gonna be blown away that this is the same band that did "DJST." It's WAAAAYYYYY heavier. It sort of reminds me of a combination of Hurricane, Great White and new (ie, Paul Laine fronted) Danger Danger. It's definitely NOT power pop or AOR like the "DJST" album!! My fave tracks are "Livin' It Up," "Wild, Wild" and the gorgeous ballad which ends the album, "Taken the Pain" (which is the only track that's at all remniscent of their "DJST" album).
-If melodic hard rock needs to be original for you to like it (I know that some people who post here don't like anything that's unoriginal or cliche), then you won't enjoy this. It's definitely color-by-numbers MHR. There's nothing that's even remotely original sounding about it at all.
-"Bad Boys" would unquestionably be the album to bridge "DJST" with "Nuthouse." It fits right in the middle of the two very different sounds. It's much lighter than "Nuthouse," yet considerably more ballsy than "DJST." By giving "Nuthouse" another listen, I just confirmed for myself that I definitely like their "Bad Boys" album and sound the most. And I stand by what I said about "Bad Boys" - it's a lot like Honeymoon Suite in terms of its overall sound. Again, I hope this has helped.
p.s. - Thanks for the kind words.
