I've always sided with Jon on here whenever the Jon Vs Richie debate comes up, since nothing against Richie, he's a great guitarist and singer, but I've always respected Jon as a songwriter and frontman, and figured he fronted Bon Jovi over Richie for a reason. Also always thought he was a nice guy (for a rock star, all things considered lol) due to his humanitarian work.

Now I'm starting to wonder if that was naievete. People mention him running BJ like a corporation and I can see how that could seem creatively and emotionally stifling for a creative, artistic, and sensitive soul, like it seems Richie might be. Jani Lane (RIP) seems to have been the same way. Now, I'm not saying Jon has some kind of responsibility to Richie to "change his ways", to change how the band is run. Wouldn't be fair to Jon.

Just saying maybe Jon could have handled all this with a bit more tact. And saying that type of personality Richie may have is also more susceptible to turning to "demons" like alcohol to cope with life. Money isn't everything. So for someone not in Richie's shoes to just say "sort your shit out" seems kinda like a case of "easy for you to say" or "easier said than done". Seems kinda heartless. Just my opinion. Hey, no one's perfect, we all have "demons", right? Our flaws/quirks make us human. Not everyone can have Jon's personality and be super driven and channel everything into being a Type A, perfectionist workaholic (nor should they).

That said, I personally don't have any experience with alcoholism, either with me or people I care about. Guess I'm just really naive, sheltered, or lucky/blessed. If I did, maybe I'd feel differently. As it stands, its just...maybe I'm way more liberal and "new age" and have more empathy than average (I do consider myself an empath), but since when did everyone on the internet turn into a hardass?
