I asked this very question last month. I was wondering if the artist made any money at all of reissues. Now i believe a top notch label like Rock Candy dots the "I's" and crosses the "t's". It even says on their website that projected reissues are slow to be release because of the legal ramifications in dealing with the labels that "OWN" the rights to the music. I'd like to know if a label like Rock Candy now owns the rights to the music or if they are allow to reissue a certain number of the selected titles for a price.

Now i'm guessing that some bands completely sell their rights (soul?) to the music to the record label. If that is true then they have no rights to complain. I believe this is true because some bands like Kiss, Journey, Foreigner, and Def Leppard have re-recorded some of their own songs so they have total control over the new version of their old songs.
