I agree for the first two albums at least. I saw them tour RIU and they could certainly play and sing. To be honest, a few of the female fronted bands at the time were a bit lacklustre by comparison. Gypsy Queen, Lisa Dominique, Cheetah... nice to look at but the music wasn't all that great...

However. Heart in the 80's. Even now that is my yardstick for female-fronted melodic HR. I saw them open for Def Leppard a couple of years ago and was amazed by Ann's voice. At least as good as she was 20 years before. Love it when that happens!

On the metal side, I still love Warlock's Hellbound and Leather Leone sounded like she could hold a tune too.
