I was expecting better to be honest. After all the positive press about Bob Ezrin's production breathing new life into the band I thought we were going to get something really special but for me it doesn't sound any better than the last couple of albums.
It's good but could have done with some variation in the tempo, only one faster track and that's not one of the best. The biggest disappointment though is Ian Paice's drum work which is solid but lacking energy and spark with only the briefest of drum fills here and there. I guess it's a lot to expect him to be able to play like he did on earlier albums but still. However. I suspect Bob Ezrin may be responsible for telling him to keep it simple.
