I saw the interview with them where they said they tried to generate new songs that had the vibe of several periods in their career. That's exactly how the album feels to me - a little of the old and a little of the new. A song like "Street Jesus" just feels so much like "Toys in the Attic" that it makes me smile. If you listen closely to the lyrics of the songs, you hear familiar phrases, from "last child" to "get your wings," "train kept a rollin'" and "mama kin."

I know most people are saying the album is too long and maybe so, but I look at it as a trip down memory lane, and a 40-year career requires a lot of stops for those memories so it doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, I created a playlist of the 15 songs, plus all of the bonus tracks, and it runs almost 1.5 hours. I love listening to it end-to-end in the car on a long trip ... even Joe Perry's tunes grew on me after awhile ("Freedom Fighter", for example, gets stuck in my head in a good way!).
