Thanks for the heads up on this one,NN. I was immediately stoked to se that this is actually the incredible original rhythm section from Crack The Sky--Joe Macre(Bass) and Joey D'Amico (drums) plus Vince DePaul who replaced John Palumbo (key songwriter/keys/vocalist) of said band. Crack The Sky's first couple, three albums are classic works on totally original,progressive-but at the same time, accessable (make any sense?) edgy rock!! I've got a couple cds with Naro singing on them (with D Drive-Don Mancuso's project,he of Lou Gramm/Black Sheep fame). He's got a pretty distinct, high register voice that is perhaps an acquired taste. Listend to all the tracks/samples for this King Friday cd (love the moniker--pretty cool!). Kinda pains me to say it's a pretty varied mish-mash without much cohesiveness. Trying REAL hard to come somewhere in the ballpark of those first two Crack The Sky cds,style-wise. I'm afraid it misses the mark for me--if not a very nice attempt. Think what they forgot made the CtS albums SO great was the catchiness of the songs. Progressive nature in them be damned--they still got etched into your brain. And that's a VERY tough nut to crack for ANY band trying to be progressive and accessable at the same time. Would have Loved to give this a huge thumbs up with those involved. But in the long run,it sounds just a bit too 'out there' for my tastes. Proggers may love the snot out of it,however. T
