Andy Johns Story

So sad to hear about Andy, always loved his sound.Thought I'd share a little known White Sister/Andy story.

When we were recording the first WS album, we had a mix of Don't Say That You're Mine that we liked, but the vocal was buried. Due to financial issues with the studio we recorded the first few songs at (don't ask) we couldn't get our hands on the master 24 track, only the 1/2 inch master mix we had in hand. Giuffria brought Andy in and he said "just go out there and sing it again, I'll mix in your double track on top of the 1/2 inch mix". I'm not a fan of doubled lead vocal tracks, but we were stuck, so we went for it. So the final mix of Don't Say is the 1/2 inch master with a buried lead vocal, with me singing live over it, Andy mixing it together.

Thanks Andy! You will be missed...
