Thanks Terry........my verdict LOL.
1st track I struggled to get past half way (5 mins or so)
2nd and 3rd tracks I went the distance and the heavier last third of At The End of The Day was a bit more my style.
As I suspected I find it a little bit "light on" with not quite enough big melodies to really make me want to listen more than once.
I think when it comes to prog I need a certain degree of heaviness and songs that have enough going on that I never think " Geez......get on with it!". That is very rare in prog - that combo of big melodies and amazing musicianship/signature changes etc.
I just keep coming back to Images and Words by Dream Theater. That is my idea of prog heaven. Not once on that album did my attention wander.
I do have Transatlantic stuff somewhere in my collection - never got around to listening to it and I know that's considered a classic in this sort of vein so I'll try that next to see if I can really get into some lighter prog rock.
Flying Colors is another I haven't given a proper listen yet.
Cheers
Brent
