To clarify, I really discovered Queensryche with Mindcrime, and became obsessed with them. Lived the album, slept to the album, loved the videos, bought the VHS for video mindcrime, and then the box set. Saw them several times in concert. Then I bought their earlier work and really enjoyed some of it. Then Empire came out, much more commercial, but a great album all the way thru, a perfect follow up to MC, so my obsession continued. With Promisland my interested deminished, mostly because it wasn't anywhere close to their previous 2 albums. Was only later that I learned to like Promiseland a bit more. I continued to buy their music after that, but usually being mostly disappointed. So yes I was fanatical for years, but all in all they have released more crap than great music. Mindcrime will always be in my top 10 albums of all time, not just for the music and lyrics, but for what it meant to me at the time. However, I would probably no any longer say that they are one of my favorite band of all time. Which for years they were my favorite.
We'll be a hundred years old, still in the front row, singing every word with our devil horns in the air, because baby we were born to be there!
