DEF LEP - HYSTERIA 2013 re-record.
..this is bound to open up the same old tired debates: Joe can't sing...Zzzzz. Make new music..Zzzzz. The re-records aren't the same (
no shit sherlock!)
Its only a snippet on iTunes, but gives some indication of what they are doing. Now, with HYSTERIA being one of the most produced records in history, and massively iconic...how can anyone listen to these re-records without immediately making A/B comparisons? However, if you try hard enough to get past that..these re-records are pretty damn good at keeping the spirit of the originals, but perhaps take away some of that overly produced, laboured sound of the originals, that perhaps some people would have preferred. Joe's voice is less "treated" (yes..there will still be "production" on this new vocal track), but the original is swathed in layers, chorusing etc. I guess its HYSTERIA stripped back. I like it.
There's been a lot of bands re-recording going in this last 5 years or so..we know why..I don't mind it all, as often the tracks are as above..just a little more stripped back and less huge 80's production.
