I think the covers that work do so because of the instrumentation. Musically the band are outstanding [TNT being the glaring exception]. It all hangs on Joey's vocal delivery/performance.

The more I listen the better it all gets....but Anthem and TNT don't really pick up any extra points....Anthem for the vocals, and TNT because it's just not a good enough version.

But the ones that work are actually excellent. Keep On Runnin' especially really does sound inspired. Sure, there's a vocal issue but that's purely because Joey is now too old and the original had one of the best vocalists ever singing on it. As covers go, it's pretty damn good.

The vocals on Jailbreak are a little lazy....but the band cover for Joey very well.
