Why do so many bands record live stuff in Japan?

Just watching the EPK for the new Whitesnake DVD,and it just makes me wonder why so many DVD's are filmed there, is it the fact that there are great technical facilities available?

Whenever I watch fan filmed clips for bands on Youtube, the most rabid responses are in South America, why don't bands film their gigs there for release, much more atmosphere from what I can see.
