I totally agree that 'average' has become the new black in this scene. Just one example would be the raving over the Total Stranger album a few years back. There are a handful of artists that can be trusted to deliver quality on each album.

Rave reviews over decidedly average albums don't help the scene. They just lower the bar. Reviews out of 5 rather than 100% might help too.
