Tommy Heart is the singer...not sure if he was ever a realistic consideration for Gotthard but there was talk at the time. He's also known for his work with Zeno which served as a bit of a starting point for the band Fair Warning.

Aside from a few great tracks on each album I don't think they've ever matched the material on the debut , certainly in terms of consistency. I know many in these parts are big fans of Go! , but I still much prefer the debut.

Rainmaker was my first of theirs based on the great tracks Burning Heart and Children's Eyes. This sounds a bit similar in terms of sound and yes....the cover is almost a dead ringer , so perhaps it's intended as a follow up to that album.
