I hear what you are saying, but I'm not sure about 'most fans' wanting a return to their big anthemic rock sound.
Certainly most of us old style rock fans are, but I can't beleive that Jovi would still be as huge as they still are if they aren't giving the majority of their fans exactly what they want. I can't help but feel that we are now in the minority of their overall audience. If jovi were still doing 'melodic rock' then they would probably be signed to Frontiers and playing pubs in the back.end of nowhere by now.
