Aerosmith - Hangman Jury
Fantastic songwriting and a brilliant piece of their comeback. My absolute favorite 'Smith song.
Journey - Sweet & Simple
It's in the title. The end of that song is pure AOR bliss.
The Ramones - Danny Says
Ramones remain my favorite band of all time. This is their simplest melody and lyric. Also brilliantly covered by Foo Fighters.
Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland
Epic. Period.
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - The Wild One
From their debut. Another simple lyric and melody. Powerful and nostalgic.
Cheap Trick - Downed
Still sounds modern to me even though this song is from their second album. Great hook. IMO, they never bested In Color.
Eagles - Wasted Time
It's in the personal lyric and the unbelievable delivery from Henley. It's both personal and universal at the same time. I never get tired of it.
The Police - So Lonely
My first Police song. I still think it's representative of all that makes them great. Reggae, rock, and jazz all in one. And the repetitive chorus is awesome.
Prince - Purple Rain
He's never written a better song. Sends chills every time I hear it.
Led Zeppelin - Hey Hey What Can I Do
A b-side that is better than almost anything in their extensive catalog. Love the acoustic sing-along aspect.
Ozzy Osbourne - Tonight
His best song IMO.
Queen - Save Me
My favorite Freddie performance. When that chorus kicks in it's unreal.
Whitesnake - Here I Go Again
Either version. They both work on different levels. A great song is just a great song. This one was lucky enough to have 2 incarnations.
Y&T - Winds of Change
A powerful ballad to end my favorite Y&T album.
