Those guys just couldn't write together anymore. They definitely wanted outside help from anywhere. Slater, Geoff, and even Rockenfield were asking one of my friends to write with them (individually but not collectively) but my friend elected not to get involved. It's too bad because he had the music for what would have been a GREAT Queensryche song. (As I tell him, you just riff in Am on the D and G string with two note chords, throw in some arpeggiation, and it sounds like QR). My friend had been invited to join QR after having played guitar in Geoff's solo band for a tour but my friend elected not to join because his day job paid much better. A very wise choice!! :)
