Loads of bands 'fix' live recordings later. It's a very common. The Jimi Jamison Firefest DVD is a recent example and Tommy Denander did post about it on here at the time. Drop-outs, uneven sound, glitches, small mistakes...they aren't so noticeable when you are there 'in the moment', but when you play it back and listen at sensible volume, it's all very different.

Some live albums apparently are often more studio than live...just the way it is. Dunno if that's what Shinedown did as I haven't seen the DVD...
