Yes it does.
Many years ago a band called Tesla released a video for Modern Day Cowboy, and I was really turned off by the video, thinking Jeff Keith was looking super gay. I managed to get beyond that initial image, and MR is one of my favorite albums of all time, as well as Jeff being one of my favorite singers. But initially the image had a negative affect.
Bands like Twisted Sister got much attention because of their image, but it ended up being their down fall as well. As I really like much of their music, but often embarrassed to admit it.
Loved many 80 hair bands, but with the exception of Poison, had a hard time, embracing the Glam Bands, probably much because of the image.
We'll be a hundred years old, still in the front row, singing every word with our devil horns in the air, because baby we were born to be there!
