I've just recently been revisiting Stallone courtesy of Channel 5 and the best Rocky and Rambo films take some beating for brilliantly OTT machismo. The first 2 of each are both quality. And the first Rocky even won an Oscar. Hell, I just have to hear the fantastic orchestration of the Rocky films and I'll enjoy them. Even if the 5th was a little beyond shit and the 4th an exercise in shameless jingoism!

As far as acting goes, Willis is the best for my money. Norris, Seagal and Van Dammme are definitely tougher, but apart from the odd decent effort their output ain't exactly gold.

The only problem I have with Willis is his milking every last drop from the Die Hard films. The 4th was abysmal and reviews for the new one have been very damning. That's 4 more than they should have made imo, as the first is one of - if not THE - greatest action films ever made.

Oh, and I'm staying on this thread - even though I do love Tarkovsky, Bergman etc :-))
