Right you are. I'm convinced that either Coverdale doesn't have the hearing left to properly approve, or he just doesn't have the time/interest to review properly. Despite the fact that it's metal music (or almost that), louder is not necessarily better when speaking about sound quality.

Yes, the Dio Deluxe editions sound pretty good by comparison. But take a listen to the Audio Fidelity masters. Even better. The difference is particularly notable on Vinnie Appice's toms and cymbals.
