I'm not a big fan of Phil Judd's songs. But when they had both Neil and Tim Finn writing solid stuff, they were spectacular. I like that they allowed a little bit of prog in their through the keyboards and rhythm section. The difficulty with them is that their strength was outstanding songs, but their image carried over from their wilder, early days and didn't always fit the later period music all that well.
Both Neil and Tim Finn have done some outstanding work as solo artists (and in Crowded House). In fact, I think Neil Finn is one of the very few truly great songwriters of our time . . . up there with Paul McCartney.
