I think the smoking is just representative of what a lot of high [profile stressed media types do. It's all about the character. If Jeff isn't a smoker, they'll be herbal.

I don't mind the speed of dialogue - I loved it in the West Wing. I just think it's layered on a tad too heavy at times in Newsroom, which is why I think a little bit of tough editing would be a good thing.
