Fantastic show, but not without a few flaws. It tends to repeat a lot of the same dynamics and character relationships Sorkin previously used on The West Wing and Studio 60. Plus it could do with a little tightening length wise as some episodes feel a little like they're being dragged out. The Wire, The Sopranos etc worked well being almost an hour, but I can't help feeling this show would benefit from being more of a West Wing length.
Although the biggest problem I have is just how badly cast Mac is. Emily Mortimer is just wrong for that role in every way. She was great in the pilot and there seemed real potential in this damaged, brilliant producer. As the series has gone on she's just been like a dippy, wet schoolgirl and a million miles away from 'the best producer in the business' - as other characters would have us believe. I was trying to think who should have played her and the only names I can think of are a young Alison Janney or a young Rachel Griffiths.
Apart from those niggles I love the show - it's flawed brilliance for me and the rest of the cast and the concept is brilliant. Roll on Season 2.
