honestly I thought it was kinda weak album. no ross and steve was not a good thing to most fans. The drum sound on that album sounded electronic. Much more poppy than Frontiers. some good songs dont get me wrong.
but also at that time the "hair band" (i do not like that term but will use it) was really exploding. Louder , harder, more fun videos were taking over. Journey seemed "safe' while the other bands were more dangerous so to speak.
the record did well but again it was like half of journey and a much more pop and soft sound than frontiers.
as i recall steve took control of the band at that time and thats why no ross and steve. again if I recall correctly years later he admittedhe was wrong for doing that...
