Re: Jon - the man/performer

One thing that was very evident to us (myself and my good lady wife) is how Jon turns 'on and off' depending on the situation.
He was live on a BBC light entertainment show the night prior to the concert we attended and he looked totally, as in TOTALLY, bored to tears. Disinterested, vague....you name it. Now, given that the hosts of that show are 2 of the most vacuous, banal presenters to grace the screen, he could be forgiven for not being properly engaged.
But last night at the theatre, before the actual broadcast began, the band did a warm up song and the Jon from the TV show was the Jon that played through that song. 5 minutes later, back on the stage, the smile was switched on and Jon the 'star' was in the house.
I don't know.....but throughout the evening, on a few occasions, he seemed a little surly and disconnected. The little ironic chuckle when someone shouted 'we love you Richie!' didn't go unnoticed either.
I can't really put my finger on it, but something doesn't seem to be too 'brotherly' with Jon and the band these days. His fleeting interactions with Richie aren't exactly warm. I don't know if that came across on the TV broadcast, but I certainly picked up on it in the venue.
Strange.
