I was about to post about this album today!!! I have been listening to it again, after having been very disappointed in the first place. I gave it another chance, and found the CD to be quite good. The playing is fantastic thoughout, and the pairing of Bissonnette and Murray, that could have seemed odd at first, works perfectly. The guitar sound is great.
I am a huge fan of both Virigina Wolf albums. I think Ousey has a very unique voice. On both records, he is brilliant.
I am less of a fan of this work with Heartland and The Distance. I did not listen to Snakecharmer because I will buy it anyway since I am a Neil Murray Collector.
I understand the comments regarding his voice being sometimes annoying. I like it, but it is true that I cannot listen to it over a long period of time (with the exception of VW).
"Rhyme & Reason" is a very good album overall and Tommy's mark is all over it. It reminds me a lot of the Frederiksen/Denander album of a few years back. Tommy has a knack for writing songs for high-pitched singers. The overall sound of the album is really good, and probably the only Slamer production I like.
I also share Metro's opinion regarding the lyrics. Not amazing at all.
