Not sure about Sydney but Rocking Horse in Brisbane is pretty good. For live events www.pollstar.com is probably the best site. In March, the Journey / Deep Purple, Kiss / Crüe /Lizzy and Guns n' Roses / ZZ Top tours are all happening but that's about it I think. U will find reasonable local bands playing the pubs / local venues though....... pick up a copy of "Time Off" for the local gig guide in the Brisbane area. The mag is free and can usually be picked up from the racks outside the surf shops, some coffee shops and also in Rocking Horse. The Coolangatta Hotel on the Gold Coast is worth checking out for live lists too.

If u are coming over from the UK, the one thing u really need to be prepared for is the cost of things. Australia is expensive anyway but at the current exchange rate, spending converted pounds here is pant shittingly pricey!! Just be prepared mate because most people just don't realise how expensive it is......e.g. around £7 a pint etc.

I am in WA now but have been around over here a fair bit. Feel free to contact me privately for any further info.
