Agreed - KISS recorded entire albums without Gene turning up for 90% of the time so in that case I'd take Paul's word over anyone.
in Def Lep I imagine it'd be Joe ...............or if Phil Collen said "New album or I take my shirt off and kick box your face" I imagine they'd start working on an album. Your shirt's already off phil!
