Re: Bon Jovi new single

I don't think it's a bad song at all, it's actually a pretty good catchy tune. The problem I have is that it feels more like a decent album track than a killer lead single a la It's My Life or Have A Nice Day. That concerns me, because if this is the best song to showcase the new album it doesn't make me desperate to hear the rest of the record.
I'm not one of those who thinks Bon Jovi should still sound like they did back in the day, as that's just totally unrealistic. The thing that irritates me is that they are still capable of being a top class contemporary rock band. Take songs like the two aforementioned lead singles and add We Got It Going On, Complicated, Undivided, Hook Me Up, Bounce, One Wild Night etc. The notion they stopped rocking at the turn of the millenium isn't true. They just don't seem to want to commit to making an entire album of songs in that vein, and from a personal perspective that frustrates me. For example, the bonus tracks on Have A Nice Day; Unbreakable and Dirty Little Secret. I thought they were two of the best tracks of their career, let alone the last 2 decades. And yet, they're only considered good enough to be bonus tracks? Crazy really.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jon is too concerned about alienating his crossover fan base to release an album that out and out rocks. But I'd love to hear a whole album in that style, rather than just adding a couple of tracks here and there in what feels like a calculated business decision to appeal to the rockier element of their fan base.
