Re: Bon Jovi new single

Just listened and I really like it. But then I've liked 90% of the stuff they've done since Slippery. Call me a fanboy (or Soccer Mom, always love that one lol), but you get older, find out what type of music you really like (uninfluenced by trends or youth), find your sound I guess, and some bands just click. "Like a faded pair of torn blue jeans..."
I admit I was nervous when I saw the "Because We Can" title, figured it'd be another one of their kind of macho, chestbeater, "I'm unbreakable" or whatever kind of anthems, another "Its My Life" knock-off. Which seem to be the only type of modern era Jovi songs most people around here DO like (and the only kind I'm "eh" about) lol Which is ironic because that's considered "rock" for Jovi these days, yet "Its My Life" is still very poppy (and I did love that one). I think I was the only one around here that DIDN'T care for the Bounce title track (seemed cheesy).
But yeah, a bit pleasantly surprised with this. Not that the lyrics are THAT different than the chestbeater stuff Jon probably feels obligated to write, but just enough thought seems to have gone into this to be relateable and appealing to me. Wouldn't mind if they decide to turn the guitars back up again someday, but this is fine. Songs are more important to me than style these days, been that way for awhile, and Jon's voice is what it is, so as long as the songs are there, I'm in. Bring on the album I say.
