Van did record a solo cd called "New Blue". I dont think it has ever been officially released but he was selling copies at the solo show he did at the Voodoo Lounge in Kansas City. http://hardrockhaven.net/online/2012/03/live-van-mclain-and-the-movers/ His solo music is more in the blues genre than straight forward rock like Shooting Star. I picked up a copy of the cd and it is very good and includes some blusey re recordings of some Shooting Star classics as well as new music.

Shooting Star played a sold out show at an Amphitheatre near Kansas City late last summer. The show featured the return of Keith Mitchell on vocals after having left the band several years ago. The concert was recorded and is supposed to be released on dvd soon.
